What makes you feel most alien?
"I run into a lot of debates around religious beliefs in my artwork because I’m very fantasy-driven— fantastical, almost like Marvel in a sense.
You can find a lot of religious motifs in Marvel, and I appreciate that because it’s keeping the lore alive while doing something a little different, something more interesting.
But some people look down on that because they feel it takes away from the true essence of the word of God."
So I've been wondering, are things worthy of being created by God even though it's created later on in time?
It’s inspired by the word, but it wasn’t when God was speaking directly from the sky. But in a sense, He still is—or it still is."
When you were a kid, what was the wildest or most joyful dream you had for the future?
"There was this drawing I did of a room that I wanted. I felt like it was pretty cool. It reminded me of a Nickelodeon room.
It had a little drop-down sofa area in the floor, a jellyfish tank, and something that almost looked like a Beats Pill speaker.
It was me thinking about wealth through my artwork. Like, one day I’m gonna be able to design this, and it’s gonna be my room."
If you had to share one piece of advice, what would it be?
"Don’t bring old feelings into new situations. Even if you heard something about a person, if you haven’t had the chance to meet them yourself, take that into account, but don’t treat them any differently.
You never know what happened that made that person react to them in that way.
I learned that from one of my mentors."
